…What’s going on in the Ib tag?

So I guess this well-known user (garrys-wife) in the Ib fandom went on a rant about people tagging Ib-related things that aren’t fanart, and acted very rudely in regards to rpers and ask blogs, and there was huge backlash, because, well, she doesn’t own the tag, and really anything is appropriate for the tag if it’s Ib-related. While some of the people are telling her off in a civil and well argued way, other people are being kind of dickish about it. Meanwhile, a couple of Ib role players got some rather unpleasant death threats and the like for no immediately apparent reason. That’s what’s going on this week on Big Brother

the Ib fandom.

Okay, but wow. I got the gist of it earlier, but I stop reading because of distractions.

Like, I can kind of see where she’s coming from with some people tagging the entirety of their blog’s content which can occasionally clutter up the tag in places, but she’s acting like the Ib tag is zerochan and ask blogs and live blogs and comics are getting in the way of everything. Is it just me or is it whenever anything happens in the fandom everybody goes apeshit? It’s getting to be a weekly thing.

Compared to other fandoms, Ib is pretty small and obscure, as well as not being very…well, old. So if anything big happens, it’s very easy to notice in a small fandom.

Of course, any fandoms have its moments (which I’ve seen in my other fandoms), but it still doesn’t help when people overreacts. Which is possible and expected, since we get emotionally invested in fandoms. So the more invested we get, the easier it can be to get offended/insulted.

Well, the girl did say some pretty ludicrous things in the original post, which I just reblogged for you, like, for example, encouraging anon hate to those that don’t comply with her definition of the tag. Which isn’t cool. But it’s getting to be really annoying scrolling through the Ib tag and there being massive drama and sadpanda and bickering every third post. If there’s anything at all that should be different about #ib, it’s that.
